Microsoft Might Be Interested In Global Takeover Of TikTok

On Sunday, Microsoft announced that it is in negotiations with ByteDance to acquire TikTok in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. However, the deal seems to be getting more complicated as time passes. As conflicting reports come out of the discussions each day.

The Financial Times reported on Thursday that Microsoft is not just interested in buying a portion of TikTok but its global business.

On the other hand, Business Insider has contradicted the report, claiming it's "completely false". Bloomberg has also claimed it has a credible source saying the report is not true. The anonymous source, says Microsoft is still only interested in buying at the moment the popular Chinese app's operations in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Meanwhile, the Indian government has recently banned TikTok in the country on the grounds of security. Before the decision, the country was TikTok's biggest market. The app had over 650 million downloads in India.

A takeover by Microsoft (a non-Chinese company) might make it possible for TikTok to make a comeback in India. If ByteDance fails to reach a deal with Microsoft for TikTok India, it may look out for investors or buyers from other countries.
