Akufo-Addo Fires 2 M/DCE

H.E Nana Akufo-Addo has fired two local government chief executives. They are; Hon. William Asante Bediako the DCE for the Amansie South District in the Ashanti Region, and Hon. Dennis Aboagye Akwapim North Municipal Chief Executive

In a statement from the sector minister, Hajia Alima Mahama the two has been replaced by Hon Barima Awuah Sarpong Asiedu-Larbi for and Akwapim North Municipal Assembly and Clement Opoku Gyamfi for the Amansie South District Assembly.

In the same statement, the minister indicated that, Hon. Abdul Mumin-Issah has also been appointed to fill the position of the Secondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Anthony Kobina Kurentsir Sam, who passed away not long ago.

The respective Regional Ministers for Western, Eastern and Ashanti regions have been instructed to liaise with the various Regional Electoral Commissions to conduct the confirmation process of the nominated Chief Executives.

It is unclear at the moment as to what led to the dismissals. However, it is suspected that the recent defence of illegal miners in the Amansie South District on the part of Hon. William Asante Bediako may or may not have a part to play in his dismissal.

In a viral video Hon. Bediako stated his disagreement with the state-sponsored ban on illegal mining.

The video was reported to have been captured at Manso Tontokrom a town within the district during a ceremony to commission a toilet facility.
